Eye of Today: 4th of July Colors!

DSC_0278Holidays are the PERFECT excuse to wear colors you wouldn’t usually wear (like bright blue eyeshadow, which rarely features in my makeup). What better a time than the 4th of July to channel my inner Mimi? Which means I finally got to use Darling Girl Rhapsody (in my mind, I always call it Rhapsody in Blue), and though I didn’t really bring out the gold overlay as much with it, it is still a really phenomenal and highly pigmented shade.

Review and Swatches: Shiro Custom Gloss, Dolce Shiro! Also, Darling Girl Super Star serum!

Guys. Guys. This week seemed really long. Has anybody else noticed? But as long as it was, when I got home on Wednesday my CUSTOM SHIRO GLOSS WAS WAITING FOR ME. And that was a highlight.

Shiro lip glosses are officially the only lip glosses I can stand. Typically the slip and stickiness slowly drives me insane as it gets on my clothes and face and personal items, because I live every day life with the genteel poise of a crabby two-year-old… but the wizardry of Caitlin’s lip gloss prevents this from happening. It’s lip goop like all glosses are, but goop without the stick and somehow with shine and lasting power. I don’t know of another product I can easily compare it to? In some ways it’s a little similar to YSL glossy stains, I suppose, but they don’t seem to stain as much and YSL stains are a bit thicker/stickier.

I also received my Darling Girl order this week with the Super Star serum, so it was time to put that to work.

Look of Today: Darling Girl Papercut and Fyrinnae Jade Ghost

So today I wanted to be green! Since it’s a work day, I had to rein it in just a bit, but I would be lying if I didn’t say I was tickled when a woman stopped me to say she liked my eyeshadow. Teehee 🙂

In my swatches of Darling Girl’s Papercut I saw a lot more teal, but applied it is very evidently that light grassy green described on the website. And once again, Jade Ghost is a perfect inner highlight color.

The look:

Review and Swatches: Darling Girl Order, 12 Shadows and Fantasia blush

Saturday was one of those rare, unanticipated, hyper-productive days that turns you into a tornado of GETTING SHIT DONE-NESS. I deep cleaned and re-arranged my bedroom. I hung up pictures on my walls that have been gathering dust in a corner since I moved in six months ago. I washed my pup’s dog bed. I made low-carb Thai peanut sauce noodles for dinner (food baby much? Worth it).

And the gods must have seen my diligence and saw it fit to reward me, because my Darling Girl order that was supposed to arrive Tuesday did NOT arrive Tuesday. Oh no!

It arrived SATURDAY.
