Swatches and Review: Hello Waffle January Visage Box

untitled (1 of 1)

We are well on our way into 2015 now, folks! The train has left the station, full steam ahead! Of course a new year also meant a new month, and a new month meant… a Hello Waffle Visage box! I signed up for the December box first (and will have a review of that coming with some of the prettiest taupes you ever did see), but because Hello Waffle has a sale starting tomorrow that will include some visage extras I wanted to jump on providing some swatches for this box because they are TRULY beautiful colors, especially if you love peaches as much as I do.

Hello Waffle’s Visage box is a monthly subscription box that costs $25 including shipping and contains products for your eyes, lips, and face. This can include anything from lipgloss to eyeshadow to contour powder, blush, lipstick… the whole gamut. Every month Hello Waffle partners with another indie company to add something in to spice up the box, and perhaps my favorite part of the box is that they are still folklore/fairy tale themed! Past themes have included Grimm’s Summer and Winter Garden and A Christmas Carol, and in each box you get a little letter from Christine including the story that inspired the box and a description of each of the products. Let’s get a closer look!

Look of Today: Green eyeshadow and Fyrinnae Triceratops (plus Fyrinnae Burrowing Owl!)

2 (2 of 2)

“You should do a Poison Ivy look today!” my husband said to me recently. WELL DON’T MIND IF I DO. This is a very loosely inspired look, but I had a bit of fun with it and loved finally playing around with Fyrinnae Triceratops. Its been sitting in my lipstick drawer for a bit, and it’s just too pretty to not do anything with.

Swatches and Review: Hello Waffle Enabling and 1000 Likes, Darling Girl Fira, for a Dornish Eye

untitled (2 of 6)

Do you ever wake up with a perfectly clear picture of what you want to do with your makeup? I suppose maybe it would be better if I woke up with a cure for cancer, or a solution to world peace, but I have to admit it feels pretty damn good to sit down at my vanity and not feel like I am throwing random colors onto my face. Today was inspired by A Song of Ice and Fire, specifically the kingdom of Dorne. While I wait in baited agony for the release of the next book (come on, it COULD be tomorrow! Maybe! Maybe? …anybody?) I’m working on a reread, and Dorne stands out keenly to me as my favorite kingdom. It has fabulous wine. It seems to be one of the only places where somewhat psychologically balanced people come from (excepting Oberyn and the Sand Snakes, I guess… but what other kingdom doesn’t have somebody who we wouldn’t consider to be crazier?). The psychologically unbalanced people they do have are characters you still root for, too. They are smart enough to try to keep the rest of the kingdoms at arm’s length. I could go on, but needless to say it was calling to me this morning, so a look reflecting the gold, red, and orange of the House Martell sigil was in order.

The perfect choices for this were two shadows from Hello Waffle’s newer 1000 Likes collection, and a shadow from Darling Girl I’ve been dying to try. Let’s take a peek…

Look of Today: A delicious day with Blackbird Cosmetics, Hello Waffle, and Black Violet Yuzu Cookies perfume

The leaves outside are starting to change color!!fps-1-4

Every moment I think “IT’S AUTUMN!!”, suddenly 80 degree weather hits and I shuffle sadly back to my room to take off my sweaters and dejectedly put on t-shirts. But nature doesn’t mean it! It loves me! This is for real this time!

I digress. Fall and winter are my favorite times for berry colored lips, and I’m developing a thing for berry-toned eyeshadow (thanks a lot, Shiro Mother of Dragons). Let’s get a little closer…
