I don’t do smoky eyes very often, because I find them to be sort of terrifying to do (when do you become a raccoon? At what point have you verged into Pandaland?), but today I am excited because I got some good news that needs to be kept on the down-low… the smoky, secret down-low. Plus, I get excited about things before they come to fruition too often, so I need to work on not over blowing things before they become a reality. So how better to distract myself than with Femme Fatale’s The Nightmare?
The pigmentation of Femme Fatale’s eyeshadows are terrific, and their duochromes are some of my favorites. I got The Nightmare not ever thinking I would wear it (and I’m not sure if ‘dicking around on a work night at home’ counts as ‘wearing it’, but we’re taking baby steps, you know?) but also knowing it was so gorgeous that I couldn’t really resist.
And is it not stunning? Green/blue duochrome on a dark base, mmm mmm, it’s spooky and refined all at the same time.
I used a cheap Starlooks black kohl pencil all over the lid, and then smoked it out with a brush. I then applied The Nightmare all over the lid, Rainforest in the crease and a bit onto the brow bone, and Kompanion No. 9 to soften it all out. I did blend a bit of Sugarpill Bulletproof into the lash line to help hide the band of the falsies. I also used The Nightmare on the lower lid, over top of more black pencil. I then patted some Pixie Epoxy over the center of the lid after all of this application and reapplied more The Nightmare to really bring out its duochrome.
I’ve also got some Mac Vegas Volt going on on the lips, and Darling Girl Fantasia blush.
Who doesn’t love a bout of vampiness to enjoy until they have to shower before bed? I’m more than a little in love with The Nightmare, it’s a powerful duochrome that really hauls ass once it is applied. I placed another order for more Femme Fatale shadows because I lack any semblance of self control, but the more I use the ones I have, the happier I am that I was irresponsible. Shipping is a bit absurd across the big blue ocean (curses international shipping!), but the only nightmare I can seriously imagine is not having more FF shadows to try. (Corny, I know).
